Instant Messenger Encryption

In case you know it or not, the normal traffic you generate when using an instant messenger is transmitted over the internet in clear text. The interesting thing here, is there are programs you can find (in a surprising number of sites) where you can grab all the IM traffic on your local subnet. I use one to practice combatting the problem myself. You would not believe the stuff that people tell each other in these Instant Messengers. I for one have used encryption in my messaging for quite a while. I really like how easy it is to use this line of encryption programs. They do all kinds of neat things like telling you if your specific conversation is encrypted with a pop up. Check them out and see if you think free encryption is a good way to keep your conversations private.
