OK, I don't get it. What's the difference?

With all the hullabaloo about the Episcopal gay Bishop, what is the difference? What changed in the Episcopal church "that specific day"? If Episcopalians have a problem with this, what was done when the man was an Episcopal Priest? I don’t get it. If someone one has the definitive insight about this and why it is "now" a bad thing to be gay in the Episcopal Church, please explain it to me.
