Site Allows Webcam Watchers to Be Security Guards

Well, its about time the web was good for something.
Carnegie Mellon University researchers have an experiment which allows web surfers to play the role of security guards. Camera Project is the name of this experiment and users can access webcams that monitor public spaces. 6,000 links are posted on the site which feature webcams that monitor everything from students at a Washington, D.C. campus to people being booked into Louisiana and Georgia jails. The site is here! but give it time to load. There are lots of people using it. The researchers who are studying "Surveillance of Surveillances" believe this study will help people be able to formulate rules about how webcams are utilized. Check their web site for more information on this project.
