Carnegie Mellon University researchers have an experiment which allows web surfers to play the role of security guards. Camera Project is the name of this experiment and users can access webcams that monitor public spaces.
6,000 links are posted on the site which feature webcams that monitor everything from students at a Washington, D.C. campus to people being booked into Louisiana and Georgia jails.
