Never enough time.

I am working thirds now and have been for over a month. WIth limited access to the network and a constant fear of taking my laptop to work, I am not able to do any updates. This is not pleasing to some people. Actually, most everyone who reads the blog. But, I will try and turn over a new leaf today and start writing at night.

Honestly, I try and nap as much as I can while I am between moves in the yard. It is tough to live on 3 or 4 hours of good sleep a day. Especially during the summer when every nappy headed kid is out of school and they are making it their mission in life to keep me awake and piss me off.

I will take the laptop tonight and after atempting to revamp my locker, I will try and write some. It really is not easy as you think. When your beat, the only thing you can think of is where you can curl up to take a nap. I have become quite adept at sleeping upright in an office desk chair. At least I don't have to sit on a bench all night. I don't think my back could take it.

Lets see how things progress.

Reminders or annoyances?

I was yelled at the other day because Bridget forgot William's ballgame.

OK, let be get this clear. I was yelled at because I didn't remind her of the game. Yet, I was bitched at because she received reminders on her cell phone for just this reason. I was told she didn't want reminders. They were an annoyance and a bother.

OK. Now that I stopped many of the reminders, I made her miss the game. Anyone want to explain this one to me? I just don't get it and I sure can't explain it. I give up. Remember this one thing if you read this:

"No good deed ever goes unpunished!"

Finger update.

Yes, Maryann's finger is now OK. Her nail is growing back and it appears that everything is going to fine.

Credit cards are history

We just closed out our last credit card. The only one we owe is the credit union. Even after the catstrophy of the layoff and the van eating more that it was worth.

I truly believe that Jeff Wyler Chrysler Plymouth screwed us big time with that one. It was $400, more, then another phone call for $500, and then $300, until it was a backstabbing $6,000 and when we had asked before the middle of all this castrophy, if we could just trade this in and not go through with the repairs they said "no, we can't do that. They could have a year earlier when we needed some repairs, but for some fraking reason, they could not do it then. I felt screwed, used, and abused from the beginning of that one. Also, I used to really trust that company. They have the greed bug. I will never go there again.
Now we are almost consolidated. Things are looking fair to poor, but we are at least we are moving up in our standing.

Priceless

Show Bike

  • One of a kind custom trike: Forty Thousand dollars,
  • Two supermodels to show off bike: Two Thousand Dollars,
  • Two Goodyear High Performance Aqua-tread tires: Six hundred dollars,
  • Putting the tires on backwards at an international show for the whole world to see:

Priceless!

Priceless!

This is one that I doubt anyone picked up. If anyone either caught this one, or doesn't get it, post a comment or send me an e-mail.

'Birthdays are important to most'
OR
'Not everone wants a cake'

This entry is currently in the process of being edited or the job is currently working. Please check back a little later for an update.  Thank you!

I have never really liked birthdays or celebrating birthdays since I was little. It was never a big thing to me. It was an add-on. Now, I see this as a problem because others seem to make an issue out of their birthday. To many I have met, their birthday really is a big occasion.

Why are birthdays just another day for me? Why do I loth them so? I truly think this goes back to when I was a kid. You see, my Birthday is always either right around or on Thanksgiving. All the family would come over for Thanksgiving dinner and we would always have a pumpkin pie, or my Aunt would make a Red Velvet cake. I love them both and one was always considered my birthday cake. So, the holiday was the reason to get everyone together. It was never really "My Birthday" alone. I think my Mom & Dad would take real offense to this, or even get upset. That is not why I am telling this. I am saying it now, because this is how I view the situation, (That, and my Mom told me they never read this blog anyway.)

Well, I think that this is basic psychology. If no one makes a big deal out of it, it is unimportant. So, since my birthday was a sidebar to the holiday, it must not be important. OK, this is kid thinking. I know that my parents would be upset at me saying this. But it is how a kid thinks. A learned action or habit is hard to forget and an annual party with another subject as the main theme would make anyone think that it was unimportant.

I need to start off by saying that my parents did a wonderful thing every year getting everyone together. It was always very nice. All my Grandparents were there every year. Other members of the family normally showed up. The Batavia side showed up when I was smaller. Or at least, I have pictures of them there. My Aunt Judy, with her Beehive hairdo and the like. The pictures are dated of various years in the late 60s. I would get birthday presents and have a nice time. But it was more the family get-together. I can't quote you the psycho-babble on why this happened. It just did. Maybe the adage, "No good deed ever goes unpunished" really fits this sitation. My parents did everything to make it special, but no matter how extravagant our annual Thanksgiving get-together was, it was never really my Birthday. It was Thanksgiving 'with' my birthday.

I did have a couple of friends in high school who took exception to my "Birthday Misgivings", but they tried all the same. I really only remember two girlfriends who really made a big thing of "my" birthday.

(BTW, neither of the two who cared were my ex-wife. Birthdays with her were always a painful experience. Both for me, and then my son. Considering she never really wanted to marry me, (which will be another entry later on) it made it easier to make birthdays an excuse for her and other things.)
earlier (in high school) my friends were to the point where we did things together on or around my birthday where it was more a time to just slow down and watch the world go by. It was not about presents, just spending time together.

Trying to compensate

One thing Bridget does is make the kids Birthday special. She also makes them completely seperate from any other event. To stress this point, I will use William's Birthday last year as an example. Last Year, Bridget's Aunt died and she had to go out to Oregon for a week or so. His birthday was over that week and he was so upset because we didn't celebrate his birthday. Eight months later, he still brings it up and until his next birthday where we all do something to celebarate it, I know he will be upset. I just hope nothing happens to anyone this year. That would be tough on him (and everyone else) since we celebrated his brother and sisters birthday in the following months.

"Where does all the money go?"
OR
"How come smashed fingers bleed so much?"

This evening, Maryann smashed a finger under a skateboard or rollerskate or something along those lines. Her friend was not watching what was going on her and Maryann was not watching what was happening around her either. Now the smashed finger apparently began bleeding pretty good right away. The entourage of friend followed her home. I am not sure how they kept up with her. She ran pretty fast to get back to the apartment.

Now when I was a kid, I would have run home and Mom would have washed off my finger and put a band-aid on it.
Yes, Maryann's was bleeding and the nail is sure to come off. But get real here. Bridget ran her to the hospital. Yes, she was upset. I know it was bleeding. Not very much, just a little.
Crap. When I smashed my fingers (four at the same time) they bled a lot. Like in little red squirt guns. Right from under the tips and after having them smashed by a 50 pound piece of aluminum slamming down on them. But that was my four grown up fingers smashed about 2/3 of the way flat and up to the first knuckle. Hers was just at the top end of the nail and bled enough to maybe cover a big band-aid.
Anyway, she is still gone at the hospital, 3 hours later.

Now I come to my point. Who is going to pay for all this? I know I am. But I can't see how. This will probably cost $300 to $500 for someone to, irrigate the wound, wrap it up, and tell her to see her family doctor if it start to do something bad. I was going to do just that, and I have enough intelligence to know that if it was not healing up, to take her to the doctor. But I guess that emotional panic overrules patient judgment.

I have really good insurance, but it costs all the same. If I could have taken her to the Air Force Base hospital, it would have been nearly free.

(OK, I am not entering in the $50 in gasoline it takes for a round trip to the Base.)
This little error in judgment will be half a weeks pay for the deductible.

Now for what I really wanted to say.

If I was an illegal alien, I would not be worrying about this bill. My stress level would be so low, I would think of this emergency room trip just like a trip to the fair. I would just go to the hospital and do everything they ask. Filling out forms, doing loads of paperwork. Then all I would have to do is skip out on the bill. What would be better, than to have free health care at a moments notice! I know there are people reading this and saying things like:

  • "I should not be saying this kind of things,
      or
  • The illegal aliens in this country deserve to be here because of all the oppression they were enduring.
Well I say bullshit. We have many friends here who worked their fingers to the bone to come here. They are now outstanding citizens of the United States and each couple came from a different country on various continents on the planet. This all happened through hard work and doing what ever was needed to be a citizen. I can't speak for them, but I have spoken to them about this exact situation and they indicated that they are very pissed off. Not at the government, but at the illegals who make it so very hard for legitimate immigrants to enter the country, let alone become citizens. Yes, they consider them criminals. They are stealing our healthcare (I doubt they are going to pay for the healthcare they receive when they can get away without paying). They are stealing our children's education by having their children enrolled in schools where the do not pay taxes to pay for the programs they use. If your illegal, you don't have a social security number, thus how would you ever pay taxes?

Anyway, this is just a rant. I will probably take it down after a few day and re-edit it. But until then, is there a way legit way to do an illegal act? Besides being in this country illegally and stealing from the general population on a daily basis?

Bridget brought Maryann home after 3 hours. They did exactly what I thought they would do and removed the nail. The only difference between there and here is that the hospital used novacaine. We would have used time and growth here to remove the nail. I doubt she has learned anything from this experience. I would like her to learn something, even if it is that accidents are painful. No one likes to have their child in pain. But for me, that is what always convinced me what was right and wrong in decision making. If it didn't hurt me, I didn't learn anything from an experience. I hope she does not miss the point of her accident.

Injury updates!

They made it home after over 3 hours. Apparently she was a pretty good patient. They x-rayed it, injected her with novacane, and pulled off the nail. She was pretty upset even after all of that was over. She did feel better after a little after a bowl of ice cream. So, with all the meds and attending medical personnel, I imagine that this will end up being around $800+. Like I said. This is the reason I really hate being honest.

Haircuts and stuff all around

Today we had a good hair day! Several things happened and all of them were non-mainstream thinking. (I will post some pictures later on.)

  • Bridget got her hair cut again. She has another Marine "high & tight". I really like it. She is not as impressed but it looks so good with her face. It is just great.
  • Maryann got in trouble for cutting some hair at school. Her teacher is working with us to keep her in line due to her tendency to cut off chunks of hair. If she does it again, we have warned her that she cuts it again, she will get a Marine cut like Mom. She is not happy with that, but we have to do something.
  • This morning, Bridget braided my beard. I am not sure why. I look like a friggin' pirate. They have wanted to do it for quite a while so I finally gave in. I am not sure how long I will keep it braded, but it should freak the railroaders out to say the least.

A Family Constitution

Apparently, Richard was reprimanded for doing this entire project last night. For some strange reason, I was actually home and not sleeping. I had come into the yard to attend some training and was home so we did the whole thing.

The teacher (In Richard's words) yelled at him because he did the whole paper. There were no instructions on the sheet, so we did it all. I thought we had a really good time doing it. It was kind of fun and turned out to be rather funny in itself. We really did think about this one and I thought our solution was rather brilliant. From now on, I will have to surmise that in today's school systems, (or at least in this one) you can get yelled at for actually doing the work you are given. I must assume that a slacker must get an award for their lack of work.

Is this Sarcastic? Sure. Angry at doing a good job and having my child yelled at in front of the other students? Sure. Am I going to the school tomorrow to find out why he was punished for really good work? Sure.

Password changes

Password changes are essential around here. Bridget keeps allowing the kids access to her login on the computer and that is not a idea I agree with at all.

If your now asking why? Then you either don't have kids, or do not have a computer. Kids are the ones who generally just delete things they don't see as important. Sure, Bridget continually asks me the same thing; "Can I remove this?" Things like operating system essentials, and such tend to keep a computer running when you restart it. At least with Microsoft products it does. Service packs, upgrades and the like are notorious for taking up hard drive space so the continued questions of "Why do we need that?" reappear everytime...

  1. I am out of town,
  2. When ever she buys a new game,
The ability to make my life miserable by rehashing the same computer questions over and over is taking it's toll on me. Things like, "I just want to play my game, why won't it work?" and "You can't expect me to remember these things.....", and the best one, "What is a browser again?" I think you can get a grasp on a smidgen of what I am saying here.

One way I stop things from changing on the computers we own is to set security and change passwords. That way, it only slows down the eventual onslaught of repairs and hours of frustration.

We currently have 5 PCs sitting on the floor of the living room. None work and the reason being is that I can't stand the bitching I hear everytime I try and fix one. I will not throw them out, but I can't fix them either. Now that I have complied with the demands to "just get rid of that monitor, we don't use it" and "what do we need all those cables for anyway?". Now that all the essential parts to repair the systems are gone, there is nothing to do with the major parts except look at them. A computer tower then becomes a place to stack never used piles of fabric for projects for other people or families, unworked boxes of church related sundries which have been donated by others, for other people, and various crapola which can't be addressed due to "a complete lack of cooperation" in what I call "doing it once and it is done" thinking.

You know what I mean. The "put it away when your done", and the "If you get it out, clean it, and put all the parts together so we can find it next time" ideas. This is a big one here. I have yet to find a cord to the rice cooker I bought while back because Bridget could not take the extra 15 seconds to put the cord back with the device. Now, I get blamed that it is missing and that I need to find it because it should be with a box of cords somewhere that used to be in the dinning room? I don't understand that one but you can get what I am driving at here.
but the fact is, I have 5 good systems which I can't fix because I can't get any cooperation from either Bridget or the kids.

So, I just keep making it harder for them to get in and screw things up. It is the only way I have enough time to get the absolute bare essentials done. Life here is not good for someone who was at the top of the food chain in IT, it is just living day-to-day and trying to keep something running so I can keep reading my e-mail and attempting to keep from going stir crazy from petty retributions.

As a note, I have just changed my passwords for blogger and removed everyone elses accounts to stop the potential of someone deleting my entire blog setup. Yes, I think that could happen if left unchecked. Considering all the questions as to "why is that on your blog" and "I don't see why that is on there", I have special reason to password protect my work.
